Allow me to introduce you to my closest companion, Gracie. This photo captures Gracie during her puppy days in 2008. I knew it was up to me to make decisions in her best interest, just like I would for my own children, so I chose a vaccination-free approach, except the ones she received at the breeder's place. Gracie, who is currently 16 years old, will turn 17 in September. Despite her age, she remains active and in good health. Applying the common belief that dogs age seven years for every one human year, Gracie will soon reach the equivalent of 119 years old! I have made every effort to ensure her well-being and contentment. Naturally, advancing age brings certain difficulties, such as arthritis and tooth loss, which she has experienced.
For over 20 years, I have been aware that our pets can be impacted by toxins in the same way we are. These toxins are associated with various negative symptoms in both humans and pets. Are any of the problems listed on the chart below relevant to you or your pets?
In a 2008 study done by the Environmental Working Group, the first study of its kind; they found that American pets are polluted with even higher levels of many of the same synthetic industrial chemicals that researchers have recently found in people, including newborns. Dogs and cats were contaminated with 48 of 70 industrial chemicals tested, including 43 chemicals at levels higher than those typically found in people. Read about the toxins found in newborns here.
In addition to trying to keep toxins out of my Gracie's environment, food, and water, I have also learned many natural ways to keep her healthy, which I have used during the time I have had her. I have used detoxes, supplements and things to help with allergies and viruses. Be advised though, there are many things that are safe for humans that are not safe for pets.
Gracie had an issue recently with some teeth, as many older dogs do. Since she is 16 years old I opted not to go the traditional route and take her to the veterinarian. I didn't want her to be sedated. I also didn't want to put her through any trauma. She had one tooth that was a canine tooth on the bottom right side that was getting bad and was now loose and crooked. She also didn't want to have that side of her face touched. About a week ago her eye was puffy underneath and her face was swollen a little. I used a natural silver spray on her food in resonably high amounts to stop any infection from the tooth. I have also been giving her two drops of a detox product on her food once a day. The swelling went down, and her body was able to get rid of that toxic tooth on it's own. It worked out exactly like I thought it would.
